.. another ‘hero’ growing up wuz ‘Mike Nelson’ - Sea Hunt.. the Dude’s Dad - fyi I Do Not Float in fresh water.. zero body fat & honkin size 13’s.. & black irish heritage - fear of drowning.. gahh..

Imagine my extreme delight to plunge into ‘walk-in reef snorkelling - our 1st trip to Turks & Caicos Islands & be one with the fishies ! My son with his outboard motor size 14’s & 6’ 4” was a swim coaches dream.. & lifeguard to boot ! But he declined the PAIN haha .. & afore I forgets.. did you watch Come Hell Or High Water.. the restaurant scene with Jeff Bridges & his pardner ? hoho !

Will get back at you re some synchronicity and big mountain craziness.. but you is WAY out of my League.. Funny though - when I packed in competitive team sports.. & pro Bartending too for a little while cuz Freelance shooting Photo & Motion Picture wuz starting to pay the freight.. found myself getting some cool assignments that needed some athletic gung ho mentality. Haha.. Tom, can you shoot the Women’s Downhill Course ASAP as soon as they close it pre-race ? ‘Sure !’ - Can you cover the Women’s National Cycling team & Men’s Pro Senior Tour.. ok ! Shoot Red Hot Chili Peppers from inside the mosh ? .. no worries.. n so the handheld camera work was my Passport just like Bartending was.. and if that ran dry - was a top hand at any haying season & fall harvest.

I collect wild tales of others for re-telling n gots some goodies from Whistler/Blackcomb have come across you might appreciate & expect you gots many to share ! Am all ears m’man.. bring it !

Appreciated this, Dee. I wouldn't mind having a fully functioning shoulder again, but the inner voices are calmer at age 48 than at age 28. So perhaps that trend is something to look forward to. I do enjoy that aging for me doesn't mean the end of pushing physical limits. I watched my grandfather flip a switch in retirement and grow immediately soft. My father never has, and he's still firefighting at age 72 (nearly 73). Most of those qualities of longevity associated with "blue zones" are accessible for those who seek them, but the one that can't really be replaced is community. If you have friends, a sense of belonging, and the purpose that comes from that, I think aging looks much less frightening.

100% my friend on all counts. gotta keep movin’ and groovin’ even if it’s at a current pace. 🙏

It feels like about a week since my Dad turned 65 - I thought he was ancient! - and yet a few months ago we celebrated my eldest sister's 60th and the rest of us are not far behind her! Thankfully I was never very fond of speed... It feels good to be at an age where snails pace is to be expected 😊.

☺️ I like it too now. I’m rather sloth-like “at my age” 🙄

Such a relatable and enjoyable reflection on getting older. At 61, I'm still a kid. But catching up fast (except on the sports field).

Thank you Jeff. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Gotta keep it light at our age—ahem—my age. ☺️

My partner and I have said that last line so many times this seared in my mind. If only I had known I’d be live this long. We both had a road we were on prior to meeting one another. We met on a path apart and then they converged. A new road, a new way. Clean & Sober. We both learned life can be a high all on its own.

Then came illness for me and caring for from him. We did not think of age until it reminded us. We always knew it would happen but who knew how soon it would be!! 70 for him - 68 for me - while mental we were were feeling 21 and 23!

Grateful we made it!!!

Wow! That’s a lot of old-timers. We’d best start treating them—and ourselves—a whole lot better.
