Thanks for the intro to Ryan. Just picked up his "Daily Dad." My run at that mostly past, but figuring it will make a great gift to the new dads in my life. Also signed up for his newsletter. You and I seem to be tracking a bit in our reading habits these days. When I signed up, the offer appeared to follow three other authors, all of whom I already do :) Have a great holiday :)
I also discovered Stoicism through Ryan Holiday, as I’m sure many thousands (maybe even millions?) of other people have. I’m grateful to have found his work however many years ago it was. He will almost certainly get a mention in my piece tomorrow too.
I appreciate how you embrace the uncertainty of life and ponder the big questions without needing to have them completely figured out. Life is too complex for that. The human experience is too complex for that.
I appreciate you reading Lyle—and of course your always thoughtful response. As a parent you’ve certainly dealt with more than your share of life’s uncertainty. I very much look forward to your essay tomorrow 🙏
Reflecting on your personal philosophy is such a powerful exercise, thank you for sharing this Dee. I appreciate that you landed on the combo of recovery, gratitude and Stoicism as the foundation for how you move through the world. It is a beautiful, hard-won, way of showing up and perhaps naming it the way you have will increase the impact even more. This essay calls me to contemplate my own personal philosophy and strive to fully live into it.
Thanks Donna. It was an interesting process to put some kind of a wrapper around it. I agree with you that framing it this way will give it more gravitas in my life—it already has. 🙏
Happy Holidays, Dee! Thank you for bringing a lot of great writing and thoughtfulness into my life this year.
Aww bless you Heidi 🙏 Hapoy Holidays to you and your fur babies ☺️
Better late than never indeed ol' boy :)

Thank you for this reflection, my friend

Thoreau is more of a poet than a philosopher, but his dictum was “simplify, simplify.” Many echoes of Walden in this meditation.
Yes indeed. And nature was my quiet meditative place long before I ever met a philosophy. Thanks Josh.
So great, Dee. I especially love how you describe wisdom.
Thank you Dana 🙏
A powerful essay Dee. Thank you for sharing such raw insights, which was hard earned.
You insights about what matters now are tremendous.
Thank you my friend. I appreciate your comment so much 🙏
Wow that was amazing - thank you so much- I’m 35 years sober (one day at a time) and I relate to so much of this!
thank you Holley!

Excellent, Dee. Gratitude. Acting our way into right thinking.
thanks Kristin. As we've both discovered, life is the best teacher. Happy New Year my friend.
