Very interesting to hear the male side of dating. My female version is my post at DATING DINOSAURS. Another good title would be:

A SELF-DIAGNOSED BAD PICKER

I’m glad to hear you had a happy ending at 65. Better late than never. 🦕

Wild stories, Dee!

My wife and I met on OkCupid. She was the only online dating match I ever met up with. Sounds like I got very lucky!

I wrote about it here if you’re curious: https://www.lyle.blog/p/whats-longer-10-years-or-a-decade

I think you did ☺️

Thanks for reading Lyle. I know lots of people have closet online dating stories. Mine were a little over the top I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ But so was I back then.

Ohhhh my gosh! The cheerleader story!!!! I remember it well and vividly! I am laughing out loud! Getting yelled at by cheerleader moms was definitely a highlight of the evening. I remember thinking...how the hell did I get in the middle of this? Oh- and also watching your "girlfriend" throwing peanut M&M's on the Nuggets floor while they were playing. Good stuff, Dee. Thanks for making me laugh on a rainy Saturday morning.

I was & remained .. in the vein of Tom Waits ‘ol 55’ .. not the ‘Already Gone’ - Was quite aware of how ‘Charm’ or that mystical ‘talent’ worked for several pals of mine .. or guys I worked with.. or clients at the bar - some sort of ‘current’ or secret signal.. pheromones ? Dunno eh.. saw it so many times it’s insane.. but musta had a sign on my forehead - Went years without a flicker of interest from the opposite sex.. nada, nothin.. was invisible. Was ‘full of try’ yes I was.. but had zero ‘moves’ - no small talk really.. just a freak of feral nature .. so overloaded with ‘good luck’ - blessed by serendipity

Haha.. ain’t ‘appalled a’tall.. & lovin the two mentions you made.. already paid them a visit.. & subscribed to both too ! 🦎🏴‍☠️🎬

Could’ve easily titled it desperado. I prefer the Linda Ronstadt version

Thanks for reading brother. Sexual chemistry did nothing for me but get me in trouble—for decades. Short-term pleasure exchanged for longer-term angst. Tradeoff wasn’t worth it for me. You didn’t miss anything 😂

a best pal o mine & ski racer said ‘see ya at the Pronghorn in a bit ’ up Whistler Blackcomb way once - was ridin my long stiff Burton cruisin knife those days so my homies knew I was nuts & they were all wanna be Crazy Canuck & hot shit in the bumps I just aint built for.. too.. ‘Boys Whistler Trip.. early 90’s - ‘The Two of Them’ held a truly fab patio table for us.. say wha ? Who’s SHE ? Just fell from Seventh Heaven ? Dropped from the sky ? ?

Can someone explain How They Hooked Up - found a semi-private ‘spot’ - got naked presumably - scored that choice table & chairs along the rail & pasted ‘that look’ on their faces - had jugs of draft, wafts of B.C. sensamilla all over themselves - obvious tray of shooters & a small crew or serious locals other side of the rail laughin & yakkin with them.. This to me - defined ‘the moveable feast’ of Hemingway to me.. Was granted ‘observer status only’ - did not get the Chip Installed.. but hot damn .. sure knew it when I saw others that did ! 🦎🏴‍☠️🏂

For female visitors to Vail, the phrase “I live here” was an aphrodisiac like no other. ☺️

Well done Dee! My fav line, out of many is 'not enough time for the cray-cray to come out'! Your recognition of the need to become your whole self before you could be fully in relationship with another whole person is so accurate. It's interesting how it's only in retrospect that we can see what we were searching for back then, that's why we lean on those farther along the path.

I'd love to see more stories about your past adventures and travels It sounds like your work has led you to some interesting places.

I just deleted a comment because for some reason this one went in twice. I forgot to mention that I have met many couples who met online and have had a successful relationship resulting in years of partnership but I'm glad I've never had to do it.

Oh boy. Long list. I always try to find a way to fit the wild stories into a context of recovery. I hope that comes through. Otherwise it serves no one to read the madness.

Thank you Donna—I appreciate you as you know 🙏
