I'm going to send this to my wife. She needs to hear it. Will that get me in trouble? Probably. Is it worth it? No. Will I do it anyway?

Yes. 😆

I love your example of slowing down by focusing on tying your shoes. One of the ways I have found to start my day on the right foot, so to speak, is by not looking at my phone as soon as I wake up. If I have time to lie in bed for a few moments, I let my waking mind wander. Once I get up, I immediately make the bed. Getting one thing right as soon as I get up seems to prepare my mindset for focusing on other small tasks throughout the day.

Right? It’s as we say in the rooms: do the next right thing. Just do that thing right in front of me with focus and attention. The rest will come.

Thank you for sharing that 🙏

I confess it was the Salomon that caught my eye, then multi tasking. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why I loved this. I won’t hijack your beautiful and thoughtful piece. Thanks

I can't believe I am reading this post today as I have been working on one about the present moment - what actually IS the present moment. Great minds think alike Dee! I will be referencing your article in mine which sadly won't come out anytime soon as I just got called out of town.

Also today I was thinking about symbols in our daily life and love that you are using your shoelaces as a mindfulness reminder. I know it's not a symbol in the true definition but it could be a personal symbol of your commitment to a slow and mindful life.

Thanks for another excellent, thought-provoking article.
